Recieving My Master’s Results and the start of 2025!

January was the most chaotic month and it was the most brilliant way to begin 2025! After a lovely family Christmas, I was ready to get back to work. Since finishing my course in September, I had been emailing agents and searching for opportunities all while anxious to receive my results; I was fairly confident I had passed as I had worked as hard as I could throughout my training, however there was still that little voice in my Autistic brain telling me that I could know nothing with any certainty until I received my results.

And then on Monday the 6th of January, at precisely 2:37pm, I noticed an email had been delivered with the subject line ‘MADP Results’. I was out at the time with my sister but as I saw the notification we stopped what we were doing and found a small coffee shop so I could view my results, both overall and for my individual subjects. I wont bore you with too much detail but I will say that in three out of four modules my marks were above the distinction level of seventy, and in the other module I was extremely close to seventy - meaning my classification will almost certainly be a Distinction, I’m currently awaiting classification confirmation from Middlesex University. I was extremely pleased, the time, determination and hard work I had put into my course had paid off and was reflected in the results on my screen. Once I had obtained my results, I was no longer a student at London Studio Centre - scary but exciting!!

Recieving my results, and therefore no longer officially being a student, also allowed me to begin my professional singing lessons. This was a really big step and I’m fortunate to have such an amazing teacher, together we began to work on utilising the unique tone my voice has and selling it as a USP, while also plotting my career. We’re still working on these things now while also looking at deepening my technical understanding and working over areas I feel I need to develop. I’ve also had to submit many self tapes recently so I was extremely grateful for their support during that process too!

During this time another exciting adventure began to unfold. Coming into December, I was aware that the current tenancy on my flat in North Finchley would be ending in February. After living in Finchley for four years I decided it was time for a change. I was looking for properties elsewhere but rent was high and I’m going to be honest there was a lot of mouldy walls! I was also sick of renting. So as a bit of a joke, I suggested living on a narrow boat.

A picture I had taken after viewing my results.

I remember sending a link to a boat I’d found for sale online to my aunty saying ‘I’ve found my boat haha’ in early December, never in a million years thinking I would end up on it but as time went on, I fell more and more in love with the idea of buying a narrow boat. I spoke to my parents about it and my dad also believed it was a great idea. Fast forward to the end of January and my dad and I were walking round narrow boat mooring sites in London one blustery Saturday when we came across the very boat I had seen online months earlier, we absolutely loved the area it was in and arranged a viewing for the following Saturday, so my mam could also see it.

The next Saturday came and we viewed the boat properly and I was completely sold, I absolutely loved it, as did both of my parents! So we began negotiations! I’m moving out of my flat this weekend and despite our offer being accepted there are a few things that may still go wrong. Buying a boat is a bit different to a house, as until you have signed some special maritime deed, the sale can be cancelled at any time. There are also a few variables out of our control but fingers crossed the boat I found six months ago with no real belief I would get may actually become my new home! I’ll update you in a few weeks to let you know if I did or didn’t get it!
